Data Access Worldwide Branding Guidelines

01. Introduction

Our corporate identity is the face and personality presented to the global community. It's as important as the products and services we provide. Our identity is the total effect of our logos, products, brand names, trademarks, advertising, brochures, and presentations - everything that represents us.

Because the corporate identity cannot be compromised, we've created this guide to provide all the pertinent specifications you need to maintain its integrity. The guidelines set in this document are not meant to inhibit, but to improve the creative process. By following these guidelines, the materials you create will represent Data Access Worldwide cohesively to the outside world.

02. The Logo

To maintain a consistent brand identity and enhance marketplace recognition worldwide, we have developed a comprehensive set of logo and brand standards. This chapter will explain how to correctly use these images in your products.

Explanation

The new Data Access Worldwide logo is the result of an evolution of the existing logo. It applies a strong typography with easily identifiable features. The gap in the "D" is derived from the original logo and is implemented in the "A" as well. The combination of the corporate black and the strong orange makes it a logo that is easy to remember and it gives the opportunity to embed the Data Access Worldwide sub-brands.

Logo placement

The new logo can be used in a variety of ways, do not apply any other combinations than the ones shown here. Whenever possible, the Data Access Worldwide logos should appear in the upper right-hand corner, in full color, on a white background. Consistent placement in this location on communications materials helps build awareness of the Data Access Worldwide brand. Keep a clear space from the bottom (at least 20mm) and right edge (at least 20mm). If the logo cannot be placed in the upper right-hand corner, an acceptable alternate placement is the upper left-hand corner. Be sure to maintain the same amount of clear space from the top and left edges.

Logo abuse

The Data Access Worldwide logos must be used properly for it to be effective. Below are some rules to help maintain the logo integrity:

Logo Description
Do not change element position, please refer to logo placement for accepted formations.
Do not stretch or distort the logo. Respect the aspect ratio's.
Do not change one elements size. Change eveyrthing in ratio, or leave it as is.
Do not change indivudal fonts, use the fonts provided. Do not change the colors other than the accepted variations.

Logo specifications

When you want to use the logo for other purposes than screen (print, paint, stickers, merchandise) use the color pallet to apply the correct color. The brand graphics package contains multiple file formats (EPS, PDF, PNG, EMF). Use the correct fileformat for the right purpose.

Offset printing (CMYK)

For printwork like banners, flyers and brochures use the files: EPS (CMYK) and PDF (CMYK). Fonts are outlined and cannot be manipulated.

Digital use (RGB)

For websites, web applications, and other software use the files: EPS (RGB), PNG (RGB) and EMF (RGB). EMF files are mostly used for Microsoft Windows. Fonts are outlined and cannot be manipulated.

Minimum clear space

The minimum clear space around the logo is equal to one-half the height of the logo. To create the greatest impact, allow even more space around the logo. Do not allow photos, typography, or other graphic elements to enter the minimum clear space area.

Minimum size

The minimum logo size should be used only when layout space is extremely limited. Use the logo at a larger size whenever possible. When it is necessary to use the logo at a width less than 120mm (453 pixels) a 'combined use version' has been created. All logo versions must never be used at a width less than 34mm (128 pixels).

Centering the logo

When centering the logo, it is important to maintain a visual balance of surrounding space.

Horizontal alignment

Align the mid-point on the right side of the capital 'A' with the centre of the page/screen.

Vertical alignment

Position the logo so that it is balanced on the centre of the page/screen like shown below.

03. Icons

A recognizable shape combined with the two capitals in Data Access Worldwide makes for a strong icon. This concept will be applied to all Data Access Worldwide sub-brands.

Icon placement

The minimum clear space around the icon is 10 pixels. To create the greatest impact, allow even more space around the icon.

Icon abuse

The Data Access Worldwide icons must be used properly for it to be effective. Below are some rules to help maintain the icon integrity:

Icon Description
Do not distort the icons. Respect the aspect ratio's.
Do not alter the shape of the icon.
Do not rearrange the icon or change elements in it.
Do not change the color of the icon other than the suggested combinations.

Icon executions

There is a variety of possible icon color pallets and placement options.

04. Executing the Brand

There are different versions of the new logos that support a variety of uses and layouts. You may choose the version of the logo best suited to your use (longer, shorter, with or without the "shield") but in all cases, only the standard, unmodified logos in the appropriate size and with correct spacing and centering are to be used. To get better exposure of the company and improve the overall corporate identity of our products and services each division has its own icon and logo.

All the logos

The logo should stand out in every situation. The next pages contain all the DataAccess Worldwide brands ans sub-brand logos and icon. It shows usage in every situation. When you want to use the logo for other purposes than screen (print, paint, stickers, merchandise) use the color pallet to apply the correct color.

05. Color Pallet

Accurate reproduction of the brand color scheme is essential in communicating a clear and consistent message about the company image. The Pantone (PMS) colors should be used wherever possible, with CMYK / RGB being matched as closely as possible depending on the materials and print process. The orange color should only be used as an accent color, in addition to the colors within the assigned scheme.

HEX #DBF6ED RGB 219 / 246 / 237 CMYK 11 / 0 / 4 / 4

Correct usage of the logo

The only 'rules' are that the colors do not clash and that there is a level of contrast (or difference) between logo, typography and it's specified backdrop. This also applies to the logo's placement over a photographic background, pattern, visual graphics or other media. Examples of how the primary logo deals with the alternative color backgrounds from the suggested scheme are below.

Suggested options for usage of colors and color combinations:

On a white background
On a black background
On a dark image background
On a light background
In greyscale
On a solid orange background
When only one color is available
(try to avoid)
White logo on a solid background
(try to avoid)
When only black is available
(try to avoid)

06. Typography

The primary typeface used for the logo is Sansation with a secondary Open Sans to complement the primary and Tahoma as a third typeface for screen viewing use only. These have been carefully selected to best represent the brand image, and must be used to retain consistency.

Sansation by Bernd Montag

Sansation is a slightly squared sans serif typeface designed by Bernd Montag. Sansation was designed in 2008 to create a sans serif typeface with a modern feeling but also to make the font look unique in some way. This is the reason why some of the lettershapes are unusual, such as the lowercase k). It consists of four fonts (regular, italic, bold and bold italic).

Tahoma by Matthew Carter

Tahoma is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Matthew Carter for Microsoft Corporation. It consists of two Windows TrueType fonts (regular and bold), and was created to address the challenges of on-screen display, particularly at small sizes in dialog boxes and menus. The bold weight was based upon a double pixel width, rendering it closer to a heavy or black weight. It has a distinct advantage over such fonts as Arial for use with technical material in that uppercase "I" (eye) is distinguished from lowercase "l" (ell).

The Tahoma typeface family was named after the Native American name for the stratovolcano Mount Rainier (Mount Tahoma) which is a prominent feature of the southern landscape around the Seattle metropolitan area

Tahoma is a websafe font, it can be included with the following font-family: 'Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif'
