Creating Custom Controls in DataFlex

Web Applications do not have a limited or fixed set of standard UI controls. The open architecture of the DataFlex Web Framework allows developers to create libraries to add to the current set of controls.

A custom control is a reusable DataFlex component that can be added to a view or Web Application. A custom control consists of two sides: DataFlex (server side) and JavaScript (client side).

Some examples of custom controls:

• The DataFlex Web Scheduler a calendar control to interact and view data with.
• The Gantt Chart, a tool to visualize the scheduling and progress of Projects, Tasks and Milestones.
