Description
Custodian for DataFlex is a web app that enables updating other web apps running on the same server. Any disk file that is part of a given application can be updated. It is suited for simple updates meaning that all files can be updated, but updating the database definitions or copying over whole folder structures is out of scope for the Custodian app.
Files are uploaded to a separate area on the server and once all files are in place the actual update is performed which means that the webapp being updated is offline for less than a second.
Note: Custodian is no longer mainained, the version fo DataFlex 19.1 is the latest one available.
Purpose
Enabling updating web apps through a web user interface thereby saving time and minimizing downtime compared to the "manual" method of getting a remote desktop session.
Usage
- Login to the Custodian app
- Select a web application
- Upload updated files to the Custodian upload area
- Click "Update" (app will update and restart)
- Log out again
Requirements
You need to install the Custodian app on a server with DataFlex WebApp Server already installed. If your DataFlex license is of the application-counting kind, it will cost you an App.
