Description

Plato is an order handling system for a fictitious chrome plating shop. The employees of the shop operate Plato. They use it to enter orders and process them through the different stages of production and delivery. During the process, emails are sent to the customer with proposals, order confirmations and invoices.

Plato is not designed to be a fully functional, real life system. It is an example application that illustrates various designs and techniques, with special emphasis on the use of an SQL Server backend. See this document ’Understanding and Using Plato’ for more information!

Note: Plato works with DataFlex 2021 Beta 3 and the upcoming new releases.

This is the second public release of the Plato Example. It has been designed and tested to work with DataFlex v20 Release Candidate 1 and the installer requires DataFlex 2021 Release Candidate 1 to be present on your system.

Some improvements can be found in this build:

  • This update of Plato now completes the work to allow for Windows as well as Web use of the security module.
  • 2-Factor authentication added
  • Self Signup
  • Application parameters settings
  • Tool for “factory-reset”, re-creating the demo data and original settings
  • Code cleanup and streamline

This is the first public beta of the Plato Example. It has been designed and tested to work with DataFlex v20 beta 3 and the installer requires beta 3 to be present on your system.

As the Plato example is a beta release you may expect updates before the final release of the example.

Known issues (outside the readme):

  • In some views we get an abandon changes message while there should be no changes
  • The PDF export from DataFlex Reports 2021 Demo OCX contains a watermark. This will be removed with the next official DataFlex Reports build
  • The latest DataFlex Reports 2021 build broke the HTML hyperlinking feature present since v3. This is part of a transition process and will be fixed in the next official release
